Henry Tobias Jones is the guy in charge of all things Content at EQT – the world’s coolest private equity firm. In the not-too-distant past, he was the head of content at John Lewis (yes, the Xmas ad place), a journalist at the Evening Standard and Dyson’s editorial director.
A little bit about me…
Journalism and the dark arts
In the game since the 2000s, I started as a news reporter at the BBC and worked my way up to Features Director at the Evening Standard. Secured exclusive interviews with big names like Jeremy Corbyn, and even co-authored a coffee table book of startups for Courier Magazine. I've written about companies that you've never heard of and probably never will, but hey, at least I'm keeping the obscure startup scene alive.
Former Editor at Gentleman's Journal doing global content, managed staff and helping to develop the GJ podcast. I even got to hang out with celebrities like Riz Ahmed, Bill Nighy, and (aforementioned) Jeff Goldblum. #squadgoals.
Content for brands
Led content strategy for big brands, including John Lewis. As Head of Editorial & Content, covering marketing & campaign content, leading world-class teams and launching JL's largest ever content first campaigns. Yes, I’ve seen the Christmas ad.
Also worked with Dyson as Global Editorial Director, developing and executing an editorial content strategy spanning Comms, Marketing, Creative, managing a global team of content creators and strategists across four continents. Telling localised brand stories like a boss, and let me tell you, there's nothing quite like working with a brand that's as sleek and cutting-edge as Dyson. But no, I can’t get you an Airwrap anymore.
Copywriting (pre-GTP3)
Worked as Chief Communications & Content Officer for AVA AI, overseeing and developing their content, communications and marketing strategies including a global rebrand. Led public and corporate communications during the company's seed round. Basically, I was the one who made sure the B2B security world knew AVA AI existed.
Also worked as a Content, Comms & Marketing Strategist for Covariant AI, launching B2B and B2C content creative and marketing strategies for the world’s coolest AI robotics company, including producing a top-rated tech podcast. Collaborated with international tech leaders and journalists, including companies like Boston Dynamics, Open AI, The New York Times, and IBM. I was basically an AI influencer before GTP3 was a thing.
Worked as a Content Strategist for XPrize, developing a modern content strategy, including editorial content and video brand stories for the world-famous moonshot prize founded by Elon Musk. I mean, who wouldn't want to work with a brand that's trying to colonize Mars? #futuregoals
